Have you ever wondered how practitioners in other countries address critical transportation issues, and what can be learned from them?  If so, you can find out by participating in a webinar about U.S. Participation in the World Road Association (WRA – formerly “PIARC”), which will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 1:00 PM [EST].
The webinar will focus on the benefits of U.S. participation in the WRA during the 2008-2011 and 2012-2016 WRA cycles and provide recommendations for maximizing the benefits of participation. The webinar will build on the contents of FHWA’s recently-published report (“Leading on the International Stage”: and an accompanying Public Roads article of the same title (
The webinar will include participation from Walter Waidelich, Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA) Acting Deputy Administrator, and Bud Wright, Executive Director of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO).  It will also feature presentations from former U.S. delegates to the WRA:
• Richard Nelson, AASHTO’s Coordinator for the Winter Maintenance Technical Service Program (SICOP)
• Michael Griffith, Director of FHWA’s Office of Safety Technologies
